ANATHEMA Bassist Says New Album Is 'Very Colorful'
July 12, 2007In an interview with the blog of the Chilean webzine Sudinferno, ANATHEMA bassist Jamie Cavanagh spoke about the grup's upcoming album, entitled "Everything". Jamie described the CD as "very colorful. Very shiny. It's loud, quiet, dark, light. melodic, resonant. introspective, extrovert, shiny (again),and it comes with heavy bits... I can hear it all in my head and it's driving me crazy. I love it. Very different but very ANATHEMA."
According to Jamie, pain is no longer the primary focus of ANATHEMA's lyrics because "I don't want to focus on that. Most of the new stuff is not sad anymore. It's different, times change. You get over things, you write about it, you move on, we've moved on. There are a lot of influences and experiences which have formed the new music we are creating."
Due out before the end of the year, "Everything" contains 12 songs and is "about an hour long," according to Jamie. "It's the best yet but it still feels like just the beginning, the first of many, because there are more."
